You see, as a Buyer, you are represented for free. The Buyer Agent's commission is PAID BY THE SELLER. The Seller agrees to list their home with a Listing Agent for a set percentage, usually 5 to 7%. The Listing Agent then decides what portion of that percentage they will offer to the Buyer's Agent, as compensation for bringing an acceptable offer to the table.
